This 4th of July, we have a surefire way to make sure your BBQ is the best – wow them with watermelon! We have a list of tried and true summer recipes that you’re sure to love and will keep your friends talking straight through Labor Day.
Up your game with a refreshing Watermelon Salad:
Try any of these for a healthy dish that tastes like dessert! http://huff.to/1LOqEpp Our favorite is the honey-grilled watermelon caprese. The combination of fresh mozzarella, syrupy honey and sweet fresh melon is outrageously good. Be sure to stop by the Norwood Farmer’s Market to pick up the freshest ingredients.
Year of the (Moscow) Mule:
Typically served in an ice-cold copper mug, variations of the Moscow Mule are taking the country by storm this summer. We tried a muddled watermelon version at Boston’s The Living Room, and were instantly hooked. Combine bite-sized chunks of watermelon and fresh mint in the bottom of your cocktail shaker and muddle. We suggest adding a pinch of sea salt too! Add 2 oz of your favorite chilled Vodka, ice, and a good squeeze of fresh lime and shake for 20 seconds. Strain into your mug, and top off with a splash (or two) of ginger beer. Adding a garnish of watermelon wedge or a mint sprig is a great finishing touch, but we promise these cocktails won’t last long!
Give your Burgers a Spicy Makeover:
No BBQ is complete without a thick, juicy burger. Stray from the traditional lettuce and tomato toppings and treat your taste buds to this delicious twist from A Spicy Perspective.
The sweetness of the fresh watermelon combined with the smoky fire-grilled burger flavor and the spicy avocado verde sauce is so good, you’ll be seeing fireworks with one bite!
