Small Space, Big Impact

We all know the old adage great things small packages, yet when it comes to where we live, we immediately think bigger is better. One Upland’s decorating experts are here to prove you wrong, and show you how to make a big impact in a small(er) space.

Now You See It…

Good sized mirrors hung directly across from a window will instantly trick your eyes into thinking the room is larger. The reflection maximizes the effect of natural light and One Upland’s pretty outdoor views, allowing you to appreciate from all angles.  If you apartment’s layout isn’t conducive to this solution, try posing your mirror behind a light source, be it a candle,  a pendant light, or a bedside lamp; the mirror will help to maximize the light’s reach while creating some serious mood lighting.

Now You Don’t!

The key to clutter-free success is maximizing your storage space! Luckily for you, One Upland’s apartments boast spacious walk in closets, but let’s face it; everyone would be happy with extra hiding places.  Utilize the space above kitchen cupboards by stashing items that aren’t used daily in matching baskets.  This will help declutter your counter tops and free up cabinet space for the important things, like your stash of emergency chocolate bars.

Switch Hitting

Elements with dual functionality will make your home seem twice as grand! We love these nesting tables from All Modern. Stack them up as side tables, and then pull them out for guests to create a coffee table or dining space!  Sleeper sofas may seem like a throwback to the ’80s, but you can thank local furniture haven Boston Interiors for stocking plenty of chic sofas and loveseats that can be converted into comfy beds to satisfy even the pickiest weekend guest.  A sleek ottoman at the foot of your bed is a great statement piece that can really finish off the space, but a storage ottoman offers both style AND space to stash linens, jammies, or even winter boots!
